I had a friend take me and my son up in his WW2 training plane. It was amazing. To be a few thousand feet over the mountains in Arizona and see the open land was so peaceful. As my friend flew us around I sat there looking out the window in awe of the view, it was beautiful.
Some days I feel trapped. I feel like I know what I was built to do, but some days I feel lost and have no clue what is next.
I let fear control my actions and keep me from doing what I know should be done. Fear is powerful because it brings up the unknown. It’s hard to fight the unknown. Fear causes us to forget that we were built to fly. When you are built to fly even walking really fast is disappointing.
In his book Soul Cravings, Erwin McManus says: “Once you have lift, once you have takeoff, it just might hit you – on its worst day, a butterfly flies better than a caterpillar on its best day.” Let that truth sink in.
Maybe today would be a good day to fly. To look past fear and embrace the unknown. To trust the One that built you to fly because when you are built to fly, even walking really fast is disappointing.
